LAVA Beijing is convinced that behind Baitasi’s sleepy façade lie a host of issues to raise and itches to scratch. To find out what these are, LAVA will solicit themes, interviews, photos and drawings from locals and BJDW visitors.
For one week, the designers will set up a magazine workshop in a repurposed courtyard, surrounding themselves with A3 paper, ink cartridges, stables and an “ideas wall” – everything needed for a quick and dirty print run – bringing out issue after issue of LAWAAI MAGAZINE.*
* LAWAAI can be read as 老外 (foreigner) in Chinese or as the Dutch word for loud noise (噪音).
