This panel discussion looks at the dynamics of organisations that are shaping the design and architecture culture in China.
New alternative models, such as the ones of the Shenzhen-based Design Society or the non-profit organisation Design Trust (that is a funding platform initiated by the Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design), act to connect the Pearl River delta with other parts of the region and various international organizations.
Ole Bouman (the Director of Design Society) and Marisa Yiu (co-founder and Executive Director of Design Trust, based in Hong Kong) will share their current and future projects. Together with the design and research scholars Professor Wang Min and Fan Ling, they will discuss the impact of individuals in this ecosystem, bridging academia and practice in new forms of design advocacy. This session will be moderated by Beatrice Leanza, Creative Director of Baitasi Remade Beijing Design Week 2016.
